Basic Must-Knows About Laser Hair Removal

By Tammy Nguyen

People have always been worrying about their unwanted hairs. For a long time all they got are temporary remedies that don't even offer solutions to their problem. And more than that, sometimes these "solutions" even make their problems worse. The good thing about today however is that men and women no longer need to be bothered by their unwanted hairs. They now have a sure-cure solution to keeping their skin smooth and clean. And this solution is the laser hair removal treatment.

The laser treatment that is used to remove hairs in the body has been present for more than ten years already. It may have invaded the market only in the 90's, but it has been existent as an experimental process for 20 years before getting commercialized. These days, this process is practiced in a lot of skin clinics and its effectiveness is recognized worldwide.

This ground-breaking procedure involves shaving and cleaning of the area to be treated. An anesthetic cream is then applied to numb the skin and to prepare it for the process. After which, a laser is concentrated on the skin to damage follicles on the area and to prevent hairs from growing back. An individual undergoing this process may feel a little discomfort, but this treatment is not really painful at all.

A session may take a few minutes up to certain hours, depending on the area that is undergoing treatment. After the procedure, the skin may show redness and swelling but these side effects don't really last long. For permanent results, the patient may undergo four to six sessions that can be done every second month.

What made this treatment very popular to people is the fact that it is a permanent solution to unwanted hairs. As long as the process was done by an experienced surgeon and that the procedure was carried out perfectly, then for sure you won't be having the need to shave or to wax anymore.

Compared to the waxing process, laser treatment is not as painful. It is an effective and precise solution that offers no risk of burning or damaging your skin. More than that, in order you to have permanent results, all you need are a few series of treatments. The only drawback here, however, is that waxing is cheaper than this alternative. But despite this, waxing would take a lot of sessions and these sessions would soon exceed the cost of a laser treatment.

With regards to shaving, it is obviously not a good solution to resort to. Even though it costs less than any other alternative, it will only lead to rougher skin and thicker hairs. And what is more is that it is time consuming and it needs to be repeated several times a week.

Laser hair removal is a great alternative over other methods but has its cons as well. These cons however are not really due to the process but are determined by how experienced your surgeon is and how well the procedure is done. Undergoing this treatment is merely a choice since everyone has their own preferences. However, if you are looking for a long lasting end result, then this procedure is the best choice for you.
